Major U.S. airlines such as United, Delta, and American have dropped their mask requirements due to a Federal Judge ruling Biden’s transportation mask mandate. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle of Florida ruled the CDC’s travel mask mandate as “unlawful,” and after two years, airlines have begun to rollback on masks. Alaska, JetBlue, Southwest, and Frontier Airlines have also declared that masks are optional while on flights.
The switch to mask optional is not just limited to airlines; NJ Transit and Amtrak have also dropped their mask mandates. Despite this, the CDC still recommends that passengers “cover their noses and mouths,” and cities such as New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles have decided to keep statewide regulations while on public transit systems.
