This past week, history was made as Detroit Tigers 1st baseman Miguel Cabrera reached the 3000 hit milestone. This hit came in the first inning when Cabrera singled to right field off Colorado Rockies pitcher Antonio Senzatela. Every fan that bought a ticket to Saturday's game left satisfied as Cabrera was the main reason the stadium was full. The anticipation had been building for days as numerous opportunities fell flat due to everything from rainouts to intentional walks
Cabrera, a former triple crown winner and world champion, said this is the achievement he is most proud of. 3,000 hits is very rare for any hitter, but especially for Cabrera, who’s most known for his raw power he’s displayed in his bat. This achievement makes Cabrera only the seventh player to have 3,000+ hits and over 500 home runs. In a year where Tigers fans weren’t expecting much success, Cabrera has given them a reason to cheer.
