NFL QB Dies in Tragic Accident

NFL quarterback Dwayne Haskins died last weekend while training with his teammates in South Florida. Haskins was hit by a trash truck while he was crossing ongoing traffic on the local highway. It’s still unclear why Haskins was on the highway or what his motive was to cross it.

Haskins was 24 years old when he passed, entering his 4th year in the NFL. He was a high rated prospect coming off a standout Junior year at Ohio State, before going pro. This resulted in Haskins being selected 16th overall by the Washington Redskins in the 2019 NFL Draft. Haskins was a local kid growing up in the DMV area and was expected to have a bright future in Washington. Haskins was supposed to be a star, however things didn't quite turn out as expected, with Haskins getting released after his second season due to character issues.

A few months later, Haskins signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, looking to restart his career. He was on pace to do just that as last year he was learning behind future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger. Haskins was motivated this current offseason to have a bigger role with Pittsburgh after the retirement of Roethlisberger, so he trained tirelessly with his teammates and coaches.

His current and former teammates and coaches all mourned the tragic loss, as his college coach Urban Meyer said "My thoughts and prayers go out to his incredible family. One of the greatest QB's in Ohio State history, but an even better son, teammate, and friend. God Bless!!" Haskins was in the works of turning his career around and truly is heartbreaking to see a anyone die at such a young age, especially coming from someone who had such high potential.
