Protesters Rally Outside of Supreme Justices’ Maryland Homes For Abortion Rights

This past weekend, roughly a hundred protesters gathered outside the Chevy Chase homes of Supreme Justices Brett Kavanaugh and John Roberts to protest the leaked opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Brett Kavanaugh is one of the five justices who planned to vote to overturn Roe, according to Politico; however, the report didn’t say how John Roberts was voting. It is unclear whether or not either Justice was at home during these protests.

Several local groups are holding “walk-by-protests” at locations including the homes of government officials, where they peacefully protest through numbers, lighting candles, and sharing testimonies via featured speakers.

Amelia Otero-Lopez is a sophomore at BCC; she says that while she disagrees with the opinion leak, and that Roe v. Wade should not be overturned, it was “a little extreme” to protest outside of their homes. They can do whatever they want to do, as long as they’re being peaceful.”
