South Carolina Takes Down UConn for The Women’s National Championship

South Carolina defeated UConn to win their second national championship after falling in the Final Four last year, missing a game winning shot to go to the national championship. This year they were determined and beat all of their opponents by eight or more points, including a 64-49 win in the championship.

South Carolina’s star forward Aliyah Boston led both teams in rebounds with 16, beating out the next best person by ten. South Carolina also had the leading scorer in Destanni Henderson who led the game with 26 points. Guard Paige Bueckers led UConn with 14 points and 6 rebounds in the defeat.

Many people tuned in to watch the championship game Sunday night. It marks the highest viewership for a women’s NCAA basketball game since 2004, almost eclipsing five million views.
